
Five IceHogs selected to UHL All-Star Classic

Rockford, Ill.-The Rockford IceHogs will have five representatives at this month's 2005 United Hockey League All-Star Classic in Glens Falls, New York. Forwards J.C. Ruid, J.F. Dufour, Olivier Proulx along with defenseman Nathan Lutz and goaltender Michel Robinson will all suit-up for Team Mountain Dew on January 24 the league announced Monday.
The IceHogs and host Adiroindack Frostbite have the most representatives. Rockford's All-Star's will be paired with the All-Star's from the Fort Wayne Komets, Missouri River Otters, Quad City Mallards, Kansas City Outlaws, Muskegon Fury and Kalamazoo Wings on Team Mountain Dew.
Ruid and Dufour were teammates last season with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) and Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins (AHL). They currently rank one-two on the IceHogs in scoring with Ruid topping the club with 22goals and Dufour leading with 28 assists. Proulx, a second year pro, joins his fellow forwards on the All-Star squad as well. Proulx ranks third on the club in scoring (15g-21a-36pts). Rockford will also send Lutz, the only returning IceHogs skater from last season, to Adirondack after pacing all IceHogs blue-liners in scoring with 7g-11a-18pts.
Robinson is the IceHogs fifth representative in the All-Star game and first ever Rockford goalie to make it. The IceHogs backstop has become the club's work horse between the pipes since an injury sidelined Jeff Harvey in early December. Robinson has appeared in 21 straight games for the Hogs and has a record of 17-7-5 with a 2.23 goals against average and a .923 save percentage. The second year goalie also became the fourth UHL goalie to score a goal, when he nailed an empty netter on December 29.
Joining the IceHogs representatives for Team Mountain Dew include goaltender Jason Tapp; defenseman Jason Kean (Fort Wayne), Daniel Carriere (Kalamazoo), Greg Labenski (Kalamazoo), Mat Snesrud (Missouri), and Dave Van Drunen (Muskegon); forwards: Colin Chaulk (Fort Wayne), Sean Venedam (Fort Wayne), Jonathon Goodwin (Fort Wayne), Joe Seroski (Kansas City), Justin Quenneville (Missouri), Mark Odut (Missouri), Jeff Nelson (Muskegon), Mike Kompon (Quad City), and Jason Deskins (Quad City).
Suiting up for the Team Pepsi All-Stars are goaltenders Derek Gustafson (Adirondack) and Scott Stirling (Danbury); defensemen Scott Drevitch (Adirondack), Nick Bilotto (Danbury), Trevor Burgess (Elmira), Kam White (Flint), Kevin Hansen (Motor City), and Chad Dameworth (Port Huron); forwards Hugo Belanger (Adirondack), Justin Kelly (Adirondack), Ryan Bennett (Adirondack), Bruce Richardson (Danbury), Mike Bayrack (Danbury), Greg Koehler (Elmira), Jason Sessa (Elmira), Bobby Reynolds (Flint), Rob Valicevic (Flint), Mike Kinnie (Flint), David Beauregard (Port Huron), David Hymovitz (Richmond).The official starting lineup for east roster will be selected by fans.
The 2005 Pepsi UHL All-Star Classic Fan Balloting will begin today, Monday, January 10, 2005, exclusively on the official website of the United Hockey League. Online fan balloting at theuhl.com will end at 11:59 p.m. EST on Monday, January 17, 2005.
