Dodgers' Streak Come to an End with 5-3 Loss

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but were unable to complete another late comeback as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated the Dodgers, 5-3, Monday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Dodgers (22-7) suffered their first home defeat of the season, ending a stretch of 15 straight wins at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark to begin 2018. The Dodgers were the lone team in professional baseball still undefeated at home this season and their 15-game home winning streak was the second longest since the ballpark opened in 1998.

The Sky Sox (19-11) avoided a sweep in the four-game set against the Dodgers, building a 4-0 lead in the second inning and a 5-0 lead in the seventh inning in front of a sellout crowd of 11,284 on a Field Trip Day.

Colorado Springs' Ji-Man Choi homered into the upper deck in right field to lead off the second inning for the first run of the day.

Gabriel Noriega later hit a RBI double and Quintin Berry followed with a RBI single for a 3-0 Colorado Springs advantage. Kyle Wren's RBI single with two outs extended the Sky Sox lead to 4-0 in the inning.

Sky Sox starting pitcher Freddy Peralta (5-1) retired the first 10 Oklahoma City batters he faced before issuing two walks in the fourth inning. Peralta went on to earn the win, allowing just two hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Rocky Gale's single on a fly ball to right-center field in the fifth inning was the first hit of the day for Oklahoma City. Michael Ahmed followed with a single into right field, but the Dodgers were unable to bring home a run in the inning.

Kyle Wren's RBI single in the seventh inning extended Colorado Springs' lead to 5-0.

The Dodgers put together a rally in the bottom of the ninth inning as they trailed in the eighth inning or later for the seventh time at home this season.

Danny Espinosa led off with a single to right field for Oklahoma City. Gale followed with his game-high third hit of the afternoon to put two runners on for Ahmed, who hit into a force out at second base leaving runners at the corners for Logan Landon.

Landon then hit into a fielder's choice to bring home Espinosa for Oklahoma City's first run of the afternoon.

Jake Peter followed with a RBI knock to cut Colorado Springs' lead to 5-2 with two outs.

Donovan Solano's RBI single cut the Colorado Springs' lead to two runs before Sky Sox reliever Tristan Archer got a game-ending strikeout.

Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Pill (0-1) was charged with the loss, allowing four runs and six hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

The Dodgers continue their homestand and open a four-game series against the Memphis Redbirds at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
