Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Joe Dillon recorded his second consecutive two homer game in leading the Albuquerque Isotopes to an 8-3 win over the Nashville Sounds in the opener of a four-game series and eight-game homestand. The win ended a three-game losing streak in front of 8,630 fans Thursday night at Isotopes Park. Dillon, who hit two homers in Tuesday's loss to Oklahoma, hit solo shots in the fourth and seventh innings and now has 12 homers in 19 games since returning to the Isotopes from Double-A Carolina on May 21. Dillon's first homer tied the game at one after Nashville had opened the scoring in the first with a Chris Truby homer off Albuquerque starter Michael Tejera. Tejera (6-1) would allow only two runs on six hits over 6.2 innings in earning his sixth win of the season.
After Dillon's homer tied the score in the fourth, Larry Sutton followed with a double and Jason Wood a single, moving Sutton to third. Chris Aguila followed with an RBI double, the fourth straight hit of the inning, scoring Sutton. Wood then scored on an RBI groundout by Ryan Jorgensen, giving the Isotopes a 3-1 lead. The âTopes would add two more in the fifth on a Sutton sacrifice fly and Wood RBI double for a 5-1 lead. The lead grew to 6-1 in the sixth as Ryan Christenson doubled, scoring Tejera. Nashville would score a run in the top of the seventh, cutting the lead to 6-2, before Dillon led off the bottom of the inning with his 2nd homer of the night.
Albuquerque (34-27) hosts Nashville (30-29) in game two of four Friday night, beginning at 7:11 PM. Aaron Small will take the mound for the âTopes.
