June 3, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
St. George RoadRunners News Release

Raymar Diaz looked in mid-season form in his 2010 debut striking out 10 Chico hitters in seven innings to lead the St. George RoadRunners to a 7-2 win over the Outlaws on Wednesday night at Nettleton Stadium.

The righty also had a single and a run scored at the plate. Diaz scattered two runs on five hits for the win (1-0).

St. George improved to 3-6 with the victory while the Outlaws drop to 8-3.

The Outlaws scored early on a Maikal Jova first-inning RBI double and a leadoff solo homer from Ismael Castro in the second. St. George got an unearned run in the top of the second when Castro wildly threw away a grounder from Diaz allowing David Ramirez to score.

The visiting fifth set the stage for the RoadRunners to take the lead. Vic Buttler drew a walk and stole two bases before Henry Calderon knocked him in with a single to right. Jermy Acey plated Calderon with a double to right-center putting STG up 3-2.

Four insurance came in the seventh frame. Diaz's single, Calderon reaching on an error and Acey's walk loaded the bags for Yosvany Almario. On the verge of losing a seven-game hitting streak, Almario lined the first pitch he saw from Josh Dew into right-center for a two-run double. Acey scored on a Dew wild pitch and Brett Flowers sent a long sacrifice fly to center to cash in Almario.

Up by five, Mitch Arnold walked two, but tossed a scoreless eighth. Charlie Weatherby allowed a leadoff single in the ninth. He induced a game-ending double play from Alex Prieto to nail down the win.

Chico starter Mark McLemore allowed four runs on four hits in 6.1 innings receiving the loss (0-1).

Six different STG players had one hit with Almario knocking home two. Castro and Blake Gailen each had two hits on the night for the Outlaws.

The series finale is Thursday night from the Nett at 7:35pm Mountain. St. George is expected to start RHP Reed Dickert (0-2) while the Outlaws counter with RHP Javier Ortiz (0-0).

Coverage of the rubber match begins at 7:15pm with John Potter on the Infowest RoadRunners Pregame Show.
