Capitals Game Suspended Due To Rain
June 3, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Edmonton Capitals News Release
The only thing that could stop the Edmonton Capitals Wednesday night against Maui Na Koa Ikaika was the weather. The umpires took their time but eventually ruled that the field conditions were too wet after a thunderstorm rolled through about 8:30 p.m. The end result is a suspended game and a doubleheader Thursday at TELUS Field.
While the lightning flashed, it was the Caps who provided the thunder with a 4 run outburst in the bottom of the first inning. Edmonton loaded the bases with their first three batters of the night. Cliff Brumbaugh knocked in an RBI single and then Tom Collaro cleared the bases and staked the Caps to the early 4 - 0 lead.
That was all starting pitcher Chris Little needed as he cruised through the first two innings and then pitched himself out of a jam in the third but was 2 outs away from getting a decision. The sky opened up in the top of the 5th inning drenching parts of the outfield. The umps suspended the game and the two teams will resume Thursday at 6 p.m. They'll complete that nine inning game and follow it up with a second half of a double-header which happens to be Bryan Hall Luau Night. Fans are encouraged to wear their Hawaiian shirts for a chance to win a trip for two to Maui to watch the Caps play Na Koa Ikaika. Bryan Hall will be on hand for all the festivities including the honour of throwing out the game's first pitch.
Fans will get twice the bang for their buck. Anyone with a ticket to Wednesday's rain suspended game will be able to redeem that at the TELUS Field Box Office for a ticket to any Capitals home game in the 2010 season.
The Edmonton Capitals are Edmonton's first choice for professional baseball and family entertainment. Capitals season seats start at under $9 per game and individual game tickets are available for just $10 every game. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, the TELUS Field Box Office during regular business hours, at (780) 414-GOAL (4625) or online at capsbaseball.ca.
