Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

MOBILE, Ala. – Victor Diaz's home run over the center field wall to lead off the 14th inning launched the Suns ahead of the Mobile BayBears in a 2-1 victory Sunday in front of 2,596 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium.

The BayBears retired 15 Suns in order until Diaz's home run. The previous baserunner for the Suns came when Brennan King homered off BayBears closer Rusty Tucker to lead off the ninth inning, tying the game 1-1.

Suns starter Joel Hanrahan allowed two hits over seven innings. The hits came in succession in the fifth inning, leading to Mobile's first run. After intentionally walking Vince Faison to load the bases, pitcher Roger Deago grounded to second baseman Victor Diaz. Faison alluded Diaz's tag long enough to allow Deago to reach first and for Danny Bravo to score.

Deago pitched 6-1/3 innings and scattered seven hits without allowing a run for Mobile (25-35).

The Suns (27-34) had a single hit in each of the first nine innings, but failed to score until King's hit.

Right-hander Tommy Farmer (4-4, 3.86 ERA) is scheduled to face Orlando Rays lefty Jon Switzer (3-6, 4.66) at 7:05 p.m. Monday at Cracker Jack Park in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

SUNS SPOTS: Tarrik Brock was ejected from the ballgame in the 14th when he requested time from home plate umpire Andrew Roberts. Roberts refused; Brock swung late and missed the pitch. Brock argued after two pitches to the following hitter and was thrown out of the game. Suns reliever Ryan Minor replaced him in left field for the 14th inning. ...The time of game was four hours, five minutes, the longest game in time and innings for the Suns and BayBears this season.
