June 9, 2003 - Southern League (SL1)
Orlando Rays News Release
ORLANDO -Jesus Feliciano wasted no time in making himself feel welcome at Cracker Jack Stadium Monday, and as an added bonus it came against his former employers, the Jacksonville Suns. The former Suns OF went 2-4 with two runs and two RBI to pace the Orlando Rays (28-34) to a 5-1 win over the visiting Jacksonville Suns.
Feliciano was released by the Suns and signed to a minor league free agent contract by Tampa bay on Monday, and Monday night he was in the lineup and haunting his old ball cub. It didn't take long for him to make an impact as the 24-year-old drove in Dan Grummitt with a second-inning single to open the scoring. He tallied again in the 5th when he singled then scored on a wild pitch, then drove in another run in the sixth with a fielder's choice RBI. Dan Massiatte went 1-3 with a pair of RBI for the Rays who improved to 7-2 on the year against the Suns.
O-Rays starter Jon Switzer (4-6) picked up the win, going 6.1 IP, allowing one earned run on five hits. The former Arizona State standout also struck out eight in snapping a personal four-game losing streak.
The Rays and Suns meet again tomorrow at 11:05 a.m. with Orlando RHP Jim Magrane (5-3, 4.63) squaring off with Jacksonville RHP Heath Totten (3-6, 4.76).
