Diablos Win Fourth Straight

The Diablos won their fourth straight with a 6-3 victory over Shreveport on Tuesday night from Cohen Stadium.

The Shreveport Sports got on the board in the top of the third. Deacon Burns blasted his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot over the right field wall for a 2-0 advantage.

The Diablos answered in the bottom half of the inning. Juan Camacho picked up a sacrifice fly to left field. Walter Olmstead then hit his second home-run in two nights, this one a two-run shot to right giving El Paso the 3-2 lead. The Diablos made it 4-2 with a Jorge Alvarez RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.

El Paso pieced together a run in the bottom of the fifth. Walter Olmstead led off the frame with a double down the right field line. Evan Conley scored Olmstead three batters later with a sacrifice fly to left field, as El Paso took a 5-2 lead into the top of the sixth.

The Sports cut the lead to just one in the top of the sixth. Wade Robinson plated Justin Humphries with an RBI single through the right side.

The Diablos scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh. Evan Conley came through with a run-scoring single up the middle to plate Matt Kent for the 6-3 advantage.

Mike Cervera (4-1) picks up his third win in a row as he tossed six full allowing two earned runs off of six hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Bert Snow (4-8) gets the loss, he lasted five innings allowing five earned runs off of seven hits with five walks and two strikeouts.

Ned Darley earned his 18th save as he threw a scoreless ninth inning.

The Diablos will close out their three game series with Shreveport on Wednesday night at 7:05 PM (MST). Greg Wiltshire will get the call against Derek Cunningham. The game will be broadcast live at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
