Diablos get trounced by Wichita, 9-2

June 4, 2013 - American Association (AA)
El Paso Diablos News Release

After taking an early lead against the Wichita Wingnuts the Diablos get trounced 9-2, and lose the first game of their four game series against the Wingnuts.

The Diablos looked strong early on; starting pitcher Carlos Monasterios was good through his first three innings, and the Diablos offense struck across one run to take an early 1-0 lead thanks to a RBI from shortstop Maikol Gonzalez, but the resolve of the Wingnuts proved too strong for the Diablos, scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a commanding lead.

Once the Wingnuts took the lead, the Diablos offense became stagnant only scoring two runs, and on four hits for the game, and the Wingnuts offense kept tacking on more runs, inning after inning, and eventually won the game 9-2.

The Diablos now fall to 5-11 this season, the Diablos have three more games on their road trip series against the Wingnuts, before they return home Friday to play against the Grand Prairie AirHogs.
