LAREDO, TX - Mark Serrano pitched a gem for the Lemrus as he moves to 4-1 on the season and the Lemurs increased their league best record to 13-4 with a 2-1 win over the Grand Prairie AirHogs at QuikTrip Park on Monday night.

Serrano came out firing in the early innings getting ahead of a lot of batters with first pitch strikes to set the tone. Serrano retired the side in order through the first four innings before giving up a walk to Juan Richardson with one in the fifth.

Serrano gave up his first base hit in the sixth inning to Ryan Pineda who was just acquired from the Fargo Moorhead RedHawks. Serrano went on to pitch into the ninth and retired the first two batters of the inning before giving up a triple to Bryan Myrow. After a short visit to the mound by Lemurs manager Pete Incaviglia, Serrano was ready to pitch the AirHogs designated hitter Andres Rodriguez. Serrano hit Rodriguez in the back with the second pitch of the at-bat to put runners at first and third. That's when Pete Incaviglia made a move to the bullpen, bringing in Mike Benacka. Benacka gave up a base hit to the first batter he faced to bring in Myrow from third and make it a 2-1 game. Benacka then settled in and struck out the next batter Frazier Hall to end the game to earn his first save of the season and to preserve the win for Serrano.

Serrano fished the day throwing eight and two thirds, giving up one run, on two hits, with nine strikeouts. The win moves Serrano to 4-1 on the year.

Garrett Rau drove in the first run for the Lemurs in the third inning with an RBI double. Mike Sheridan picked up the second run with a sac-fly to right to bring in the second run of the game for the Lemurs in the fourth.

Derek Blacksher pitched well in the loss moving his record to 0-3. He went eight, giving up two runs, on six hits, with six strikeouts and no walks.

The Lemurs will be home on Friday, June 7 to take on the Amarillo Sox in a three games series. All game times at home will be at 7:30pm.
