El Paso Diablos News Release

El Paso, TX- With the series win intact for the Diablos, a win tonight would be "Icing on the Cake". Sadly, the Diablos fell short of a tremendous comeback losing to Wichita 11-9.

After the first third of the game it was close, but the Wingnuts had a narrow 5-3 lead going into the fourth inning, early on it was apparent this game would be determined by offense not defense.

The Wingnuts took great command of the game after a four run fourth inning, to put them up by a score of 9-3. With sixth inning in the book, the Diablos once again slowly crept back into contention, cutting the Wingnuts lead to four.

Ebbs and flows were the key trait to tonight's game, the Wingnuts increased their lead, and then the Diablos decreased their lead. With the game going into its last half the Diablos scored three runs in the eighth inning to cut the Wingnuts lead to one, but a crucial solo home run from Wichita in the top of the ninth sealed the Diablos fate.

The Diablos are now 22-47 this season, as they finish their three game series against the Wichita Wingnuts. The Diablos have one day off until they start their three game series against the Grand Prairie AirHogs on Friday.
