Diablos Complete Three Games In One Day Odyssey With 2-1 Record

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX- Due to Friday's suspended game and a rainout on Saturday, the Diablos were forced to finish three games on Sunday against the Grand Prairie AirHogs.

Fortunately for El Paso, the team found the resolve to win the final two games over their division rivals after dropping the finish of game one in fifteen innings at the start of the day. Entering the series finale on Monday, the Diablos trail Grand Prairie in the South division by just two and a half games.

Tied at nine entering the tenth in game one, the two squads exchanged five zeros before the Diablos scored two runs to take an 11-9 lead. Grand Prairie did one better, scoring three in the bottom of the 15th to win 12-11.

Game two featured Luis Chirinos' (4-1) first complete game as a Diablo, as the 22-year old pitched all seven innings in a game shortened by league rules pertaining to doubleheaders. A two-run single by Fernando Valenzuela Jr. provided the winning margin in a 3-2 win.

In the final game of the day, the Diablos held on to a 5-4 victory to take both seven inning contests. Welington Dotel led the way with a pair of run-scoring hits for El Paso as Ronny Morla (3-0) picked up the win in relief.

The Diablos will face the AirHogs for the final time in the 2012 regular season on Monday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (5:05 p.m. MST).
