Way Pitches Lemurs to Sweep

Kansas City, KS - Laredo Lemurs (43-43) starting pitcher Matt Way throws a complete game leading the Lemurs to a 5-2 win and a sweep of the Kansas City T-Bones (44-43) Sunday night at Community America Ballpark.

Matt Way (9-6) picked up his fifth complete game of the season as he threw nine, giving up two runs, on six hits, walking two and striking out nine.

With the win the Lemurs sweep pick up their first sweep on the road this season, they also pick up their first winning road series going 4-2 on the trip that took them through Sioux Fall, South Dakota and Kansas City, Kansas.

The win also gives the Lemurs a .500 record for the first time since they were 8-8 back on June 3rd .

The Lemurs got on the board early in the ballgame with a run in the first. With two outs Palmer Karr Jr. was hit by a pitch to put him at first. John Allen came up next and doubled off the wall in left center to drive in Karr and give the Lemurs a 1-0 lead.

The Lemurs picked up two more in the second to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Uriak Marquez led off the second with a hit and stole second. With one out Stephen Pearson singled to bring in Marquez from second base. Pearson scored later in the inning on a ground out to first.

With the score 3-1 in favor of the Lemurs they would pick up two more runs in the fourth with Javier Brito reaching on a walk to start frame. Marquez would follow the Brito walk with a base hit and a throwing error by the left fielder would allow the runners to move up to second and third. Brian Peterson came up next and singled to drive in both runs and put the Lemurs up 5-1.

Shaun Garceau (8-5) took the loss for the T-Bones as he threw seven, giving up five runs, on six hits, with a walk and three strikouets.
