
Explorers Topple Wichita

Wichita, KS-----The Explorers pounded out 14 hits in an 11-5 victory here Sunday over Wichita to salvage the final game of the three game series against the Wingnuts.
Every batter in the Explorers lineup had at least one hit with Adrian Martinez leading the way with three hits. Brandon Newton, Wally Backman, Jr. and Peter Barrows had three hits with Backman extending his hitting streak to 17 games.
Jorge Delgado put the game out of reach in the sixth inning with a three-run home run, his second as an Explorer and Delgado had four RBI's in the contest.
Richard Salazar gave up all five runs to Wichita in the second inning, but settled down and pitched through the seventh to pick up his seventh win of the season. Andrew Snowdon pitched the final two innings and retired all six batters he faced.
The Explorers will have an off day Monday and back home Tuesday to begin a three-game series at Lewis and Clark Park against Kansas City.
