Diablos blow late inning lead in 5-4 loss

June 6, 2013 - American Association (AA)
El Paso Diablos News Release

Contrary to the first two games of the Diablos series with the Wichita Wingnuts, the Diablos were in control of the game, but late inning runs by the Wingnuts provided the Diablos with their third straight loss to Wichita.

It was a great start to the game for the Diablos, starting pitcher Ryan Bean was in control of the game giving up only one run through his six innings pitched. The Diablos took a commanding 3-0 lead thanks to some wild pitches, and a RBI single from center fielder Mitch Einerston.

As the game got into its late inning the Diablos looked like they would get their first win of the series, even though the Diablos offense had slowed the Diablos pitching was superb only giving up run going into the seventh inning. That all changed in the next three innings; the Diablos brought in three different pitches for the last three innings, and the Wingnuts scored in each of those innings, and the Diablos eventually lost the game in the bottom of the ninth inning 5-4.

The Diablos now fall to 5-13 this season, with one more game against the Wichita Wingnuts in their four game series. The Diablos will be home Friday to start their three game series against the Grand Prairie AirHogs.
