
Devin Ebanks Scores 43 Points to Set Grand Rapids Record in Win over Maine

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Devin Ebanks set a Grand Rapids Drive record with 43 points and finished with a double-double on Monday night.
Grand Rapids beat the Maine Red Claws 128-119 in front of 2,173 fans at the DeltaPlex Arena on Martin Luther King Day.
Grand Rapids, the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, improves to 11-10. Maine, whose parent team is the Boston Celtics, loses its fourth-straight game and falls to 12-11.
Ebanks, a 6-foot-9 forward out of West Virginia, had 14 rebounds and was 14-of-22 from the field. His previous best in scoring was 29 points, which he scored in the Drive's last game at Iowa on Friday. He leads the Drive in scoring at 20 points per game.
The previous Drive record for points in a game was 34 by two players, Adonis Thomas and Diante Garrett last season.
Spencer Dinwiddie, who is on assignment from the Pistons, finished with 22 points and eight assists. Dahntay Jones had 17 points and six rebounds.
Omari Johnson led the Red Claws with 21 points, all in the first half. He was followed by Malcolm Miller (20), Terry Rozier (20), Levi Randolph (19), R.J. Hunter (18) and Coty Clarke (12).
Johnson, a 6-foot-9 forward out of Oregon State, was 6-of-10 from 3-point range to tie for the most in a game this season for Maine. His previous season high in scoring was 24.
Early in the third quarter, Sims blocked a Ralph Sampson III shot and Jones got the rebound and went the other way for a layup to cut Maine's lead to 71-65. Dinwiddie drove the lane for a dunk to cut it to 77-75. Ebanks hit 1-of-2 free-throws to give the Drive their first lead of the game at 86-85 with 1:50 left in the third quarter.
Maine led 69-59 at halftime. Ebanks had 19 points at the half for Grand Rapids.
Maine's Jordan Mickey, who averages 17.8 points and 10.9 rebounds, was recalled before the game by the Celtics. Mickey, who played at Louisiana State, leads the D-League with 4.6 blocked shots per game.
Maine's next game is Wednesday at the Canton Charge for an 11 a.m. EST start. Grand Rapids continues its three-game homestand on Friday when the Sioux Falls Skyforce visit for a 7 p.m. start.
