Erie, Pennsylvania - The Erie BayHawks fell to the Canton Charge 91-104 this afternoon at Erie Insurance Arena. Erie was without Devyn Marble and Keith Appling. Appling signed a 10-day contract with . Marble was recalled b the Magic.
The Charge started out hot by hitting 62% of their shots and six of nine from behind the arc in the first. Jon Horford and John Holland each had the hot hands in the quarter with Holland putting up 10 points and Horford with 12. The BayHawks failed to get to the free throw line in the quarter and fell behind 24-41. Canton did not relinquish the lead again.
The BayHawks made a run of 11-6 to open the second but the Charge took back control when Quinn Cook and Antoine Agudio hit back-to-back threes. Foul shots continued to be a problem for the BayHawks with Melvin Ejim committing a foul and sending Canton into the bonus with 6:43 remaining in the quarter. The BayHawks didn't make their first trip to line until 7:14 remainined in the half.
Canton continued to pull away in the third. Once again, the BayHawks went into the bonus early in the quarter. This time John Jordan committed the sixth team foul with 9:36 remaining. Canton captured their largest lead of the game in the third by a score of 30.
Jordan Sibert made the game interesting midway through the fourth by knocking down two consecutive three-pointers to pull the score within 13 but the effort came too little, too late. Canton hit 56% of their shots from beyond the arc in the game.
Cook had a team-high 19 points for the Charge behind four of seven on three-pointers. Horford finished with 15 points while Holland added 16 after their strong first quarter performances. Sir'Dominic Pointer almost notched a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Alex Davis had a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds to grab a double-double on eight of 15 shooting from the field. After being inactive for the past two games, John Jordan had 17 points and four assists. Jordan Sibert added 15 points including 11 in the fourth.
The BayHawks will be back in action on Thursday, January 21st (7pm) against the Raptors 905 for college night. All college students receive free admittance by showing their student ID. All full price tickets come with a complimentary Taco Bell combo meal. Main level tickets reduced to $8.
