Albany Devils News Release

ALBANY, NY - Backed by a pair of Mike Sislo power-play goals, the Albany Devils knocked off the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, 4-0, Tuesday at Times Union Center. The victory extended Albany's point streak to four games and was their third win. They are 3-0-0-1 for the first time in franchise history. The Penguins, who were coming off back-to-back wins at St. John's last weekend, go to 2-3-0-0.

Keith Kinkaid tied a franchise record with his 10th career shutout. He stopped all 22 shots he faced for his second win of the season (2-0-1). He is now just one win shy of tying Jeff Frazee's franchise record of 65 career wins.

"We have a lot of chemistry from last year, a lot of the same guys and we look good out there," Kinkaid said of the team's performance. "We are finally clicking; it was just getting our feet back under us and getting used to everybody again. It's easy with familiar guys. We look good right now."

Offensively, Sislo found the upper-left corner on back-to-back power-play opportunities in the second. Reid Boucher sent a pass off the side of the goal to Brandon Burlon atop the point. Burlon fed Sislo for a one-time blast at 2:09.

Just over ten minutes later, Scott Timmins worked the puck below the goal line to Joe Whitney. The left winger sailed a pass through the crease to Sislo just inside the left face-off circle at 13:33.

"You get the first one and try to get on a roll and go from there," Sislo said. "Getting that first one's always nice and on the power play getting some movement going there -- it's always good. Special teams is a huge part of the game, so both of those things at the same time was nice."

The team's final two goals came during the last 1:08 of play. Tim Sestito found an empty net from deep within the defensive zone and Reid Boucher picked the upper-right corner from atop the circle with 58 seconds remaining.

Albany finished the game 2-5 with the man advantage and 4-4 on the penalty kill. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is yet to score on the power play this season. They are 0-17.

"That was a good test for us, a good team, they play hard, they play detailed hockey and they have a good structure as well," said Head Coach Rick Kowalsky. "So it was a good test for us and that's what I told the guys afterward."
