Devils Defeat Americans, Move into 7th

ROCHESTER, NY - The Albany Devils have moved into the top eight of the Eastern Conference thanks to a 3-2 victory Friday against the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena. Mike Sislo, Mike Hoeffel and Phil DeSimone all scored as the Devils improve to 27-20-1-10.

Backed by 31 saves by Keith Kinkaid, Albany is on a three-game winning streak and has earned at least one point in eight of their last nine outings (7-1-0-1). For Kinkaid, he improved to 17-12-3 with his first AHL victory since Feb. 24 against Hershey.

Sislo opened the scoring by racing down the left side shorthanded and snapping a wrist shot at 5:43 of the first. Matt Anderson and Brandon Burlon were credited with the assists. Albany moved ahead 2-0 when Darcy Zajac chipped the puck ahead in the offensive zone and Hoeffel turned and fired a wrister past Rochester's David Leggio at 12:54.

Rochester responded with a Matt Ellis power-play goal at 18:49 of the second. The Devils recaptured a two-goal lead when Joe Whitney setup DeSimone for a one-timer at 12:56 of the third. Moments later, Rochester's Mark Mancari made the score 3-2 at 13:30.
