Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -The Binghamton Senators took on the visiting Adirondack Phantoms tonight at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Though the B-Sens hoped to bounce back after a difficult loss to Rochester on Wednesday, they were shut down by the Phantoms defense losing their second straight game for the tenth time this season, 3-2.
Binghamton had the game's first goal after point-leading Stephane Da Costa slapped one into the net on the power play after receiving passes from Brett Lebda and Shane Prince at 10:07 in the first. The remainder of the period proved to be a tough one for the B-Sens as Adirondack capitalized on two power play opportunities. Garrett Roe scored his sixth of season at 18:46 to even the score with Tye McGinn and Brandon Manning receiving the assists. 14 seconds later Matt Mangene put the Phantoms up, 2-1 with Rob Bordson and Manning earning the helpers.
Although neither team was able to add to the scoresheet in the second, Adirondack dominated on the shot clock outshooting Binghamton 16 to seven.
With the Phantoms leading into the final period, the B-Sens remained persistent and were able to tie the game at 14:02 as Cole Schneider put one past Brian Boucher with Danny New drawing the assist. Yet Adirondack answered back by putting one behind Nathan Lawson at 15:35, courtesy of Tyler Brown. Manning, who earned three assists on the night, and Jason Akeson combined for the helpers.
Lawson lost his fourth, and second straight, game this season, stopping 33 of 36 Adirondack shots. Boucher earned the victory for the Phantoms after turning aside 28 of 30 shots.
The B-Sens return to action tomorrow as they host the Norfolk Admirals. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Tickets to the game are $19 for side and $18 for end seats. Fans can purchase tickets through the B-Sens executive office by calling (607) 722-SENS (7367), the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena box office, and all Ticketmaster outlets.
