Bulldogs Sign Peter Merth to P.T.O.

HAMILTON, ONT - Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today that the Bulldogs have signed defenceman Peter Merth to a Professional Try-Out Contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Merth, 25, has played 48 games this season for the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL recording 17 points (1 goal, 16 assists) and 75 penalty minutes. Merth has played 164 regular season games over the past three seasons for the Nailers registering 39 points (5 goals, 34 assists), a +24 rating and 213 penalty minutes. The native of New Westminster, British Columbia played 11 regular season games for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League during the 2011-2012 season notching two assists, a +3 rating and 24 penalty minutes. The 6'3", 225-pound defenceman played four seasons at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference from 2006-2010 posting 31 points (4 goals, 27 assists) and 213 penalty minutes in 151 regular season games.

The Bulldogs' next game is against the IceCaps in St. John's tonight at 6:00 p.m. All 'Dogs games will be broadcast on Hamilton's Funny 820 (AM 820).
