
Devils Collect Point in 3-2 OT Loss to Penguins

BINGHAMTON, NY - Despite a goal and an assist from Michael Latta, the Binghamton Devils fell in overtime to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, 3-2, in front of 4,136 fans at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.
The Penguins took a 1-0 lead while shorthanded early in the first period. Jean-Sebastian Dea intercepted the puck and moved down the right wing on a two-on-one rush. Dea beat goaltender Eddie Lack over the left shoulder for the lead, unassisted, with his 13th of the year 4:41 into the game.
Gage Quinney added to the lead at 11:13 on a shot right on the goal line. After receiving the puck from Tom Kostopoulos, Quinney beat Lack to the left of the net for the two-goal lead. The strike was Quinney's 11th of the year with the lone assist to Kostopoulos for the 2-0 advantage.
Just when it looked like the Devils would trail by two heading into the intermission, Jacob MacDonald got the Devils on the board. With 2.2 seconds left in the first, Michael Latta pulled the puck back on a faceoff to MacDonald in the offensive zone who blasted a slap shot over the shoulder of Michael Leighton. The goal was MacDonald's 16th of the year with the assist to Latta and the Devils trailed 2-1 after one period while holding an 8-7 shot lead.
Binghamton put home another late-period goal to tie the game at two heading into the second intermission. Josh Jacobs took a shot that was backhanded in by Latta for his seventh goal of the year and second point of the night. Assists on Latta's goal were given to Jacobs and Kevin Rooney and the game was tied 2-2 to start the third perod with shots even at 15.
After no scoring in the third period, Teddy Blueger ended the game for the Penguins with just one minute left in overtime fo rthe 3-2 win for the Penguins. The goal was Blueger's 14th of the year with assists from Dea and Kevin Czuczman. Lack stopped 29 in the loss while Leighton denied 27 for the win.
