Game Day Build-Up: Senators at Rocket, March 9
March 9, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release
The set-up
The Belleville Senators will look to snap a two-game losing streak as they open a back-to-back with the Laval Rocket at Place Bell tonight.
The Sens (22-35-1-3) dropped a 4-1 decision to Toronto last time out and sit 20 points outside of a playoff spot with 15 games to play.
Laval (22-29-6-2) rank fifth in the North Division with four more points than Belleville. The Binghamton Devils are wedged between the two Canadian sides.
The Rocket also enter tonight's game on the back of a two-game losing streak.
Roster notes
Marcus Hogberg is back with the Sens after playing in Thursday's game with the Brampton Beast in the ECHL. Matt Petgrave was released from his PTO with Belleville Wednesday.
With Hogberg playing in Brampton yesterday, signs point to Danny Taylor getting the start for Belleville tonight between the sticks.
Max McCormick, Jim O'Brien and Erik Burgdoerfer are still with Ottawa while Kyle Flanagan, Francis Perron and Christian Jaros have yet to return for the Senators.
Previous history
Belleville is 2-6 against Laval this year and have won just once at Place Bell in four attempts. After tonight's contest, the two teams will still battle three more times, although two of those contests will be in Belleville.
Who to watch
Nick Paul has seven points in his last seven games with the Sens that also included a hat-trick on Feb. 24 against Laval. Paul has 11 goals and 20 points in 45 games this year.
Since being acquired from Toronto, Kerby Rychel has tallied five points, four of which are goals, in four games with the Rocket. Rychel has 35 points (14 goals) in 51 games this season for Toronto and Laval.
