Sacramento River Cats News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Chris Denorfia was 4-for-5, Sean Doolittle added three hits and Daric Barton drove in two runs as the Sacramento River Cats beat the Portland Beavers 4-2 Tuesday night at Raley Field.
Despite leaving 14 men on base, the River Cats (3-3) managed enough offense after out-hitting the Beavers 15-4 to improve to 2-0 in the series while sending the Beavers (3-3) to their third straight loss.
Kevin Cameron (1-1), the third former Beaver to face Portland in the series, was credited with the win after striking out three and allowing no hits and just one walk over two innings of relief behind starter Vince Mazzaro.
Jeff Gray worked a perfect ninth to register his second save of the season.
Kyle Blanks' two-run single gave the Beavers a 2-0, first-inning lead, but the River Cats passed up Portland with single runs in the first, third and fourth innings. Barton drove in a run with a sac fly, scored on a double by Jeff Baisley and added an RBI single as the River Cats realized a 3-2 lead after four innings.
Sacramento added to its advantage in the bottom of the seventh when Gregorio Petit's RBI single plated Doolittle.
