Beavers Set For Opening Homestand

PORTLAND, Ore. - After starting the season on the road, the Portland Beavers open their 2009 home schedule with an eight-game homestand, filled with exciting events, starting with Opening Night on Friday against the Fresno Grizzlies at PGE Park. The team's first homestand of the season features a pair of four-game series against Frenso and the Sacramento River Cats.

Opening Night, presented by PGE, kicks off the Beavers' home schedule Friday, with a number of events, giveaways and activities for fans of all ages at PGE Park. In traditional Opening Night fashion, fans will be treated to special full-team introductions and fireworks during the national anthem. Beavers players will be on hand to welcome fans at the gates starting at 6 p.m. The first 1,903 fans receive a 2009 magnet schedule courtesy of PGE and will be the first in line for the Pack Your Bags contest presented by Spirit Mountain Casino.

The celebration of the Beavers' opening weekend continues Saturday with the first of several premium giveaways throughout the season as the team continues its series against Fresno. The first 1,903 fans Saturday receive a fleece blanket presented by Toyota.

Centered around Earth Day on April 22, the Beavers will host Go Green Week presented by Esurance, April 20-24, as the team wraps up the series against Fresno and starts a four-game set with Sacramento. The first 1,000 fans at each of the five games receive an organic music download card from Esurance, which once redeemed can be planted to grow flowers.

The Beavers conclude their opening homestand and four-game series against the River Cats with a special day game on Friday, April 24, featuring a US Bank Art & Science of Baseball School Day presented by Intel at PGE Park. Representatives from OMSI will be on hand to provide Portland-area kids a day of learning and baseball as part of the ultimate field trip at the ballpark. Gates open at 9 a.m.; the game begins at 11:05 a.m.

The Beavers first homestand of the season also begins a series of new day-of-the-week promotions in 2009, including Home Run Derby Mondays presented American Family Insurance, Fred Meyer $4 Tuesdays - offering 200 $4 tickets on Tuesday game days throughout the season - and Win-Win Wednesdays.

Tickets for the Beavers homestand against Fresno, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, and Sacramento, the Oakland Athletics Triple-A club, are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000. Friday, April 17

2009 Opening Night - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m.

The Beavers make their 2009 PGE Park debut as they open a four-game series against the Grizzlies on Opening Night presented by PGE. The first 1,903 fans on a Comcast $1 Menu Friday receive a 2009 magnet schedule courtesy of PGE. Fans can also win prizes during the game with Spirit Mountain Casino's Pack Your Bags contest. Throughout the night, a variety of discounted concession items will be available including $1 hot dogs, Sierra Springs water and Nestle ice cream desserts. Beavers players will greet fans on their way into the ballpark starting at 6 p.m. Following the game, the first set of qualifying rounds will take place for high school sluggers to earn a spot in the All-Star Home Run Derby presented by American Family Insurance on July 13.

Saturday, April 18

Fleece Blanket Giveaway - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m.

The Beavers continue their series against Fresno as they host the first of several Fred Meyer Super Giveaways throughout the season with a fleece blanket giveaway presented by Toyota for the first 1,903 fans. Continuing the celebration of opening weekend, the first 1,903 fans will also receive 2009 magnet schedules presented by PGE. High school sluggers will take the field following the game in effort to qualify for one of two spots in the All-Star Home Run Derby presented by American Family Insurance on July 13 at PGE Park.

Sunday, April 19

American Family Insurance Kids Sunday - Beavers vs. Fresno - 2:05 p.m.

Portland wraps up opening weekend as it takes on Fresno on an American Family Insurance Kids Sunday. The first 1,903 fans in attendance receive a 2009 magnet schedule courtesy of PGE. Prior to the first pitch, kids can take advantage of the Beavers' new kids-eat-free plan, play catch on the field and get player autographs outside the Beavers team store. After the game, kids are invited to run the bases at PGE Park, presented by Family Fun Center and Bullwinkle's Restaurant. Balloon artists, clowns and face painters will be on hand to entertain fans of all ages at PGE Park.

Monday, April 20

Go Green Week - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m.

The Beavers kick off Go Green Week presented by Esurance as they conclude a four-game set against the Grizzlies. The first 1,000 fans receive an organic Esurance music download card that can be planted in the ground to grow flowers after it's been redeemed. The final day of the series against Fresno is a Home Run Derby Monday, presented by American Family Insurance, and launches a new, season-long MLB 2K9 tournament with the championship round to take place at the end of the season. Monday's game is the Beavers' first televised game on FSN.

Tuesday, April 21

Go Green Week - Beavers vs. Sacramento - 7:05 p.m.

Go Green Week presented by Esurance continues on a Fred Meyer $4 Tuesday as the Beavers take on the River Cats at PGE Park. During day, 200 general admission tickets will be available for $4 through the PGE Park box office and Ticketmaster outlets at local Fred Meyer locations. The first 1,000 fans receive an organic Esurance music download card that doubles as a flower-seed packet.

Wednesday, April 22

Go Green Week/Nothing Night - Beavers vs. Sacramento - 7:05 p.m.

The Beavers give a nod to the early days of baseball with Nothing Night as part of Go Green Week presented by Esurance. Free of music, video or contests, Nothing Night features just baseball on a Win-Win Wednesday at PGE Park. If the Beavers can capture a victory over the River Cats, each fan in attendance can use their ticket to attend a future Sunday-Wednesday Beavers home game. Honoring Earth Day, the first 1,000 fans receive an organic Esurance music download card that, after redeemed, can be planted to grow flowers.

Thursday, April 23

Miller Lite Thursday/Go Green Week - Beavers vs. Sacramento - 7:05 p.m.

Show your green on Green Out Night on a Miller Lite Thursday at PGE Park. As part of Go Green Week presented by Esurance, the first 1,000 fans receive an organic Esurance music download card that can be reused to grow flowers.

Friday, April 24

US Bank Art & Science of Baseball School Day presented by Intel - Beavers vs. Sacramento - 11:05 a.m.

The Beavers conclude their series against the River Cats and their first homestand of the season with a special US Bank Art & Science of Baseball School Day presented by Intel at PGE Park. Portland-area kids descend on PGE Park for a day of fun and learning featuring special exhibits and a pre-game presentation from OMSI starting at 9 a.m. on a Comcast $1 Menu Friday. The first 1,000 fans receive an organic music download card on the final day of Go Green Week presented by Esurance. Kids in attendance receive an official US Bank School Day hat. Throughout the day, a variety of discounted concession items will be available including $1 hot dogs, Sierra Springs water and Nestle ice cream desserts.
