Denver Outlaws News Release

DENVER - Denver Outlaws Head Coach Tony Seaman has been named Major League Lacrosse's Tito's Coach of the Year, it was announced Saturday night at the 2019 MLL Honors at Union Station in Denver. In his first season as head coach, Seaman led the Outlaws to a 9-7 regular-season record and will coach the team in Sunday's MLL Championship Game.

"We're grateful to have Coach Seaman as our head coach," said Outlaws midfielder and MVP finalist Zach Currier. "He has contributed so much to this sport for so long, it's been a real honor to play for him. His perspective and passion bring a strength to the team, and his loyalty to our guys is unmatched. I appreciate being a part of his team, and I look forward to winning a championship for him."

Seaman, who spent 28 years coaching at the NCAA level, led an Outlaws roster that saw 18 rookies/first-year players play in the regular season. The group accounted for 200 points (goals + 2pt. goals + assists), a figure that marked 60.8 percent of the team's total 329.

Under his guidance, four Outlaws were named finalists for year-end awards-Currier (MVP), attackman Chris Aslanian (Rookie of the Year), defenseman Finn Sullivan (Defenseman of the Year) and goalie Dillon Ward (Goalie of the Year).

Seaman was named the sixth head coach in Outlaws history on Dec. 18, 2018, after serving as the team's general manager from 2012-18. Seaman is the third head coach in team history to win Coach of the Year honors, joining Brian Reese (2009) and Jim Stagnitta (2013).

The Outlaws will look to capture their second consecutive and fourth overall MLL Championship when they take on the Chesapeake Bayhawks on Sunday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (11 a.m. MDT faceoff).
