Demeritte Homers Twice More in Mavs 9-5 Win

Adelanto, CA- Travis Demeritte blistered the 66ers for a pair of homers for the second consecutive night in High Desert's 9-5 win over Inland Empire at Heritage Field on Friday. The Statham, GA native tallied four RBI and three total hits for the second straight game as well. Zach Houchins tagged a homer for Inland Empire for the second straight for Inland Empire (0-2) but it was not enough.

The similarities from Thursday's game to Friday's were not limited to the round trippers. For the second night in a row the Inland Empire starter gave up four runs in the first frame but was able to battle through five innings. Justin Anderson (0-1) allowed five earned runs on the night for the Sixers while allowing ten hits, two walks and fanning three batters. Righty Ronnie Muck was a bright spot out the pen for IE as the University of Illinois product tossed 1.1 innings allowing just a walk and striking out two.

Caleb Adams had a strong night at the plate in the loss. The Texarkana, TX native tallied three hits including two doubles. Jose Briceno and Tim Arakawa each had two hits for the Sixers. Seth Spivey was 2-for-2 with a homer and two walks for High Desert (2-0) while Luke Tendler notched three hits for the Mavs. Houchins' homer came off Mavs reliever Cole Wiper to open the fifth inning but Wiper was credited with the win out of the pen.
