Rawhide and Blaze Suspended Due to Rain

April 9, 2016 - California League (CalL1)
Visalia Rawhide News Release

BAKERSFIELD, CA- For the first time in 2016 weather disrupted the Visalia Rawhide (2-0, 2-0), as they attempted to play game three of their four game series on Saturday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark against the Bakersfield Blaze (0-2, 0-2).

The ballgame started on time with RHP Ethan Elias (0-0, 0.00) on the mound for the Rawhide and RHP Tyler Herb on the mound for the Blaze.

Visalia put two men on in the top of the first but the rally ended there when CF Colin Bray grounded out to end the frame.

Elias took the mound and retired the first man of the game before allowing a double and then hitting CF Austin Wilson to put two men aboard for Bakersfield.

Rain had been falling consistently since the first pitch but at this point the umpire crew deemed the moisture to much to continue laying as the area around first base had already begun to puddle. Both teams were sent to their clubhouse and the game was ultimately postponed.

The ballgame will be made up on June 13th at Sam Lynn Ballpark in Bakersfield as part of a day - night double header. First pitch in the resumption of the suspended game will be 12:00 p.m. with a 7:45 p.m. first pitch in the nightcap, which will be a seven inning contest.

The Rawhide and Blaze wrap up their season opening four game series tomorrow night at 7:15 p.m. with RHP Brad Keller (0-0, 0.00) pitching for Visalia against Bakersfield's RHP Tyler Pike (0-0, 0.00)

The Visalia Rawhide will officially begin their 70th consecutive season of baseball in Visalia with the home opener on Thursday, April 14th vs. Bakersfield at Recreation Ballpark with a 7:00 PM first pitch.
