Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs earned a point in the standings but fell to the visiting Laredo Bucks in a shootout as Jeff Bes converted the lone attempt in the extra session for his third point of the game in a 3-2 win Friday night at Tim's Toyota Center. The Sundogs found themselves down 2-0 early before goals by rookie Joey Sides and Konrad Reeder evened the score, forcing overtime and the eventual shootout.

Held scoreless in a 9-0 loss on Wednesday, Laredo responded to take a 2-1 lead after the opening 20 minutes of play in Friday's contest, converting on both first period power play chances given to them by referee Travis Smith.

Maxime Lincourt netted his third of the year just 2:51 into the period for an early 1-0 lead, redirecting a Mike Looby shot from the point over J.F. Perras who committed low to the initial shot. Jeff Bes also assisted on the play for the first of two helpers in the frame by the veteran forward.

The Bucks stretched their lead to two goals 11:37 into the contest as Bes found Evan Schwabe on the doorstep for his third of the season after Arizona failed to clear the zone on several attempts. Below the far faceoff dot, Bes sent a centering feed through traffic to Schwabe for his club's second man advantage tally in as many chances.

Sides continued his torrent play since being added to the Sundogs roster, netting his second goal and fourth point in as many games to cut Arizona's deficit in half with seven and a half minutes remaining in the opening period. Torren Delforte assisted on the play along with defenseman Jon Landry, extending his current point streak to a CHL season-long eight games.

After a scoreless second, Arizona needed less than a minute of the third period to tie the game at two goals apiece as Landry collected his second point of the night, finding Reeder streaking down the near boards. Left alone, Reeder one-timed the setup feed from Landry for his third goal of the season and first since a 4-3 overtime loss to the Rapid City Rush on October 24.

The Sundogs outshot Laredo 3-1 in overtime despite being shorthanded late in the extra session after Kyle Hood was whistled for cross checking. Hood, Delforte, Reeder, Kevin Gardner and Steve Potvin were all denied by Bucks netminder Jean-Philippe Levasseur in the shootout while Perras turned aside three of four shooters faced. Bes converted the lone attempt, beating Perras with a wrist shot to the goaltender's stick side for the game-winner.

Perras (3-1-1) had a three-game win streak snapped in the shootout loss but remains without a regulation loss dating back to a 6-4 opening weekend loss to the expansion Allen Americans. Levasseur stopped 23 of 25 shots for his third win of the year.

Arizona (3-4-2) continues to struggle on the power play, finishing 0-for-7 with the man advantage while Laredo converted on two of five opportunities with both coming in the first period. Shots were 33-25 in favor of the Bucks Friday.

The two teams conclude a three-game set tomorrow at 7:05pm at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley. Tickets start at just $14 and are available by phone at 1-866-4-GET-TIX (1-866-443-8849), online at www.gettix.net and in person at the Tim's Toyota Center Box Office.
