Del Valle Hits Pivotal Home Run
June 2, 2021 - Northwest League (NWL)
Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
A crucial home run from Francisco Del Valle was the difference on Tuesday night in Spokane as the Tri-City Dust Devils (9-16) beat the Spokane Indians 3-1 in the series opener. Del Valle's three-run homer in the seventh inning, which just made it over the fence, gave the Dust Devils a lead they would not relinquish.
After allowing a run in the bottom of the first, Tri-City's pitching staff went on to keep the Indians scoreless the rest of the night. Luis Ramirez earned his second win of the year after tossing two scoreless innings and Chad Sykes notched the save after slamming the door shut on Spokane in the ninth.
Coming up in the second matchup of the series on Wednesday the Dust Devils will send left-hander Hector Yan to the mound. Spokane will counter fellow southpaw Helcris Olivarez.
