
Defensive Trio Joins Griffins

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Monday signed defenseman Nick Naumenko to a professional tryout and announced the assignments of defensemen Kyle Quincey and Dan Syvret from the Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers, respectively.
Naumenko, 32, brings a veteran presence to Grand Rapids with 576 games played over his first 10 seasons, including 331 contests in the AHL. Twice a 50-point scorer, he enjoyed his most productive campaign in 2001-02 with Portland, scoring a career high 15 goals to go with 35 assists. Naumenko appeared in 39 contests for Chicago last season, contributing 17 points (1-16-17).
Quincey, 21, made a solid pro debut with the Griffins last season, placing third among the team's blueliners with seven goals, 26 assists and 33 points in 70 games. Detroit's second choice in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, he also played his first game as a Red Wing on Nov. 25, 2005 at Anaheim.
Syvret, 21, follows Stephane Goulet and Brock Radunske as the third player to be assigned to Grand Rapids by Edmonton. A 2005 draftee, he totaled 20 assists in 62 games as a rookie with Hamilton last season, while earning 10 games with the parent Oilers.
In addition, the Red Wings today reassigned goaltender Logan Koopmans from Grand Rapids to the Toledo Storm of the ECHL.
