Connecticut Defenders News Release

MANCHESTER, NH- New Hampshire would have nothing to do with Connecticut shenanigans as they vanquished the Defenders in the rubber match, 6-1.

The Cats began their revenge of the previous night's romp in the third frame as they delivered three run scoring doubles in the inning to take a 3-0 lead.

Nothing doing in the fourth and fifth until the Defenders finally found the scoreboard in the sixth. Ben Copeland led off with a two-bagger and was brought to the dish by the very next batter in Eliezer Alfonzo who singled him home.

New Hampshire answered right back in the home half of the sixth as Kyle Phillips hit a lead-off homer to re-extend the lead to three runs as the score inflated to 4-1.

The Fisher Cats continued to add to their lead in the seventh as Travis Snider roped a double down the third base line to send Aaron Mathews home as New Hampshire pushed their advantage to 5-1.

Kyle Phillips started the eighth inning with another towering homer of the solo variety as the Cats ballooned the lead to 6-1.

The Defenders will travel home for a seven game home stand at Dodd Stadium. Friday night's contest against the New Britain Rock Cats takes place at 6:35pm and tickets are available at ctdefenders.com or by dialing the box office at (860) 887-7962.
