Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- For the second time in the still-young American Association season, Grand Prairie AirHogs righty Nick DeBarr won the league's Pitcher of the Week honors, as selected by Pointstreak, the league's official statistician.
First, DeBarr started the homestand with a six-inning, six-hit, one-run victory over Laredo in the first game of a doubleheader on June 11 as Grand Prairie edged the Lemurs 2-1. The righty from Pleasanton, Calif., then finished the AirHogs' sweep of their five-day, seven-game slate at QuikTrip Park by beating Newark 8-3 on June 15.
In that game, the righty worked seven innings on three days' rest, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four Bears hitters.
On the season, DeBarr is 6-0 with a league-leading 1.43 ERA. He has worked at least six innings in all six of his starts, with three complete games and one shutout - which earned him pitcher of the week after beating El Paso 6-0 on May 23.
He has worked 44 innings and allowed only 28 hits, with 11 walks and 24 strikeouts.
The 2011 American Association Champion Grand Prairie AirHogs begin the first of their two 10-game road trips this season, continuing interleague play with a four-game series in Pomona, N.Y., against the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League. The first game is Monday, June 18, at 6:05 p.m. The next home game at QuikTrip Park is Friday, June 29, at 7:05 p.m. against the Amarillo Sox. That night is QuikTrip Night, with free ticket vouchers available at local QuikTrip stores. All games are aired live and for free on Ustream by clicking on the link on the AirHogs' home page or visiting http://www.ustream.tv/channel/airhogs-baseball with selected contests aired on Time Warner Cable's Texas Channel.
