KANSAS CITY, Kan.- The Kansas City T-Bones have announced the signing of Mike Mehlich, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed pitcher from Miami, Fla.

The Atlanta Braves drafted Mehlich in the 11th round of the 2006 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Bishop Moore High School at the age of 18. He spent 2006 through 2009 in the Braves' organization, advancing as high as the A+ team in Myrtle Beach before moving to independent baseball in 2010.

Mehlich spent parts of that year and 2011 with Newark, a Canadian-American League team the T-Bones face in interleague play this season. Mehlich began this year with the Camden Riversharks.

To make room for Mehlich, pitcher Eric Schaler has been placed on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.
