Chavez Throws a Shutout

Laredo, TX - Chris Chavez (3-4) came out firing against his former team the Gary SouthShore Railcats (13-17) on Monday night as he worked nine complete, striking out 10, and not allowing any runs, as the Laredo Lemurs (13-17) open up the three game series with a 3-0 win.

Chavez was on his game from the start of the game as he got ahead of hitters and retired the first six batters that the Railcats sent to the plate.

This is the second complete game victory for Chavez this season with his last one coming against the Lincoln Saltdogs as he pitched nine, giving up two runs, on five hits back on May 28th .

The Lemurs pieced together the offense, picking up a run in the second, and two in the seventh. Palmer Karr Jr. supplied three hits on his birthday, Ernie Banks Jr. went two for four with and RBI and John Allen went two for four with a run scored.

Railcats starter, Stephen Hiscock (1-2) pitched well in a losing effort moving his recorded to1-2, giving up one run, it was unearned, on six hits, with two strikeouts.
