Florida Fire Frogs News Release
CLEARWATER, FL: LHP Hayden Deal dished out another outstanding performance on the mound, but the Dunedin Blue Jays got just enough offense and shut down the Florida Fire Frogs bats in a 4-0 win on Friday evening at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium.
Deal (2-3) scattered eight hits and two earned runs with no walks and six strikeouts over 6 and 1/3's frames. He is yet to allow over two earned runs in a single start this year and remains the FSL's ERA leader at 1.50.
The Blue Jays only got to Deal once, stringing together three consecutive hits in the sixth to get on the board. Alejandro Kirk's two-run double scored Logan Warmoth and Cullen Large to put Dunedin in the lead, 2-0.
The Blue Jays added two insurance runs in the eighth when Norberto Obeso reached on a throwing error by second baseman Brett Langhorne, enabling Kirk and Ryan Noda to cross the plate to double the D-Jays advantage to 4-0.
RHP Sean McLaughlin surrendered just one hit and those two unearned runs in the eighth while recording five outs.
The only pitcher even sharper than Hayden Deal on Friday was RHP Justin Dillon. Dillon (3-1) gave up just two hits and a walk with six punchouts in seven stanzas of work while earning the win. RHP Connor Law and RHP Brad Wilson tossed scoreless innings in relief.
Riley Delgado doubled to start the game before being left in scoring position. Jefrey Ramos went 2-4 after his four-hit performance last night and is 6-9 through the first two games of the series.
NEXT UP: RHP Nolan Kingham (2-2, 4.25) looks to turn the tide in game three of the series on Saturday night. First pitch will once again be fired off at 6:30 p.m.
