de Haan Invited to Canada's National Junior Training Camp

Toronto, ON - Hockey Canada announced today that Generals Defenceman Calvin de Haan is among 39 players invited to Canada's National Junior Team Training Camp which will run from December 12th-15th at the Mastercard Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

de Haan, is one of three returning players from last year's silver medal Canadian team who were invited to camp. At the 2010 World Junior Tournament he played in four games for Canada registering one assist.

Thirty-four of the thirty-nine players invited to the camp are from the Canadian Hockey League including ten from the Ontario Hockey League.

"I'm really looking forward to it," said de Haan at the Hockey Canada press conference. "Hopefully I can make the team and go from there. It is a really big honour."

The native of Carp, Ontario has posted 2 goals, 18 assists for 20 points in 20 games since being returned to the Generals from the New York Islanders on October 6th.

Canada will play three pre-competition games leading up to the tournament including on December 20th when they face Team Switzerland at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. The 2011 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship will take place from December 26th, 2010 through January 5th, 2011 in Buffalo, New York.
