
Daytona Defeats Dunedin 7-3 at the Jack

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - After losing four of the six games on their recent road trip, the Tortugas returned home to Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark and snapped the Dunedin Blue Jays eight game winning streak on Monday night. RHP Tejay Antone earned his third victory and Ibandel Isabel homered for the 25th time.
After Randy Ventura struck out looking to start the first, the next four Tortugas reached, leading to three runs. Ibandel Isabel walked and moved up to second on a Bruce Yari single ahead of Tyler Stephenson. Stephenson drove in Isabel and moved Yari to third with an RBI double to start the scoring. Taylor Trammell followed that up with a double of his own, scoring both runners to put Daytona up 3-0.
Dunedin got on the board in the fourth. Kevin Smith reached base on a one-out single, moved to second on a Brock Lundquist single and came into score on a two-base fielding error from Michael Beltre in right field to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Daytona got the run right back in their half of the fourth. Alfredo Rodriguez reached on a one-out infield single then moved to second on a throwing error and three pitches later Stuart Fairchild drove him in with a single to make it a 4-1 game.
In the top of the fifth, Rodrigo Orozco and Josh Palacios hit back-to-back two-out doubles on back-to-back pitches off of Antone to cut the lead to 4-2.
The Blue Jays added another run in the sixth to make it a one run game when Kacy Clemens grounded into a fielder's choice with the bases loaded.
Ibandel Isabel got the Tortugas back on the board in the seventh, by hitting the second pitch of the inning from LHP Angel Perdomo 431 feet over the left field wall to put Daytona up 5-3.
The Tortugas added two more to round out the scoring in the eighth. Rodriguez led off the inning with a double and came around to score on a Fairchild single to go up 6-3 and Ventura scored the final run when he came around from first to score on a two-out, Isabel double to make it 7-3.
Antone (3-2) gets the win after allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits in seven innings. He walked one and struck out six. RHP Connor Eller (6-4) takes the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits in four innings. Eller also walked one and struck out four.
LHP Wennington Romero (8-7, 4.08) will get the ball on Tuesday night for the Tortugas. He will be matched up with RHP Patrick Murphy (8-4, 2.58).
First pitch Monday is scheduled for 7:05 PM, with coverage beginning at 6:45 PM with The Metcare Pregame Show on AM 1230, AM 1490, and FM 106.9 WSBB.
NOTES: The Tortugas improve to 36-1 when leading after 8 innings... After going 1-for-20 with runners in scoring position on Sunday, Daytona was 4-for-12 with RISP tonight... The Tortugas finished with 5 doubles for the third time this season and first since 7/14... Ibandel Isabel hit a homerun and a double in the same game for the third time this season. All three occurrences have come against Dunedin. Isabel also homered in back-to-back games for the first time since 7/19-7/20 and recorded his 17th multi-hit game... Bruce Yari has doubled in 3 of his last 4 games. He finished 2-for-4, his 22nd multi-hit game, the second most on the team... Stuart Fairchild finished 3-for-4 with 2 RBI's, his third 3-hit game and second multi-RBI game with Daytona... Alfredo Rodriguez finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs, his first multi-hit game with the Tortugas... Taylor Trammell doubled for the second straight game and recorded his first multi-RBI effort since 6/19... RHP Tejay Antone is now 17-8 in his FSL career.
