TODAY'S GAME: Finale of a three-game series against the Fort Myers Miracle (MIN) from Hammond Stadium (0-2)...Finale of a seven-game road trip against the Charlotte Stone Crabs and the Miracle (MIN) (0-6)...Florida is coming off a four-game series sweep to the Stone Crabs at Charlotte Sports Park...Second of three series (11 games) against the Minnesota Twins' affiliate, with seven matchups taking place in Fort Myers...The Atlanta Braves' affiliate dropped a four-game set at Hammond from April 9-12.
TODAY'S STARTING PITCHER: 23-year-old Jeremy Walker makes his 21st start of 2018 in the finale of the three-games series against the Fort Myers Miracle on Sunday afternoon...The 6'5" hurler suffered his 10th loss of the season in a 6-3 defeat to the Charlotte Stone Crabs on July 31...The right-hander allowed four runs in the first inning and one in the second, but held the Tampa Bay Rays' affiliate off the scoreboard in his final two frames...The five runs were allowed on six hits, three walks and four strikeouts...Sunday will be Walker's second career start against the Miracle...The Gardner-Webb product allowed six runs on seven hits, a free pass and a punchout in just 1.2 frames in a 9-0 defeat at Hammond Stadium on April 11.
FIRE FROGS DROP SERIES IN SHUTOUT: The Florida Fire Frogs were shutout, 1-0 on Saturday night, dropping the series to the Fort Myers Miracle after the first two games of the three-game weekend set. The middle match was the eighth time Florida had been blanked this season, leading to the team's 17th series defeat in 32 tries.
The Fire Frogs and Miracle exchanged zeros going into the ninth inning, but Mark Contreras' two-out, solo shot handed the visitors their 10th consecutive loss.
SPARTY APPROVES: Walter Borkovich made his first professional start in his High-A debut on Saturday night, and did not disappoint...The Michigan State product scattered three hits through five scorless innings, while striking out four without issuing any walks...The 23-year-old's previous career-high for innings pitched was 4.1 set back on July 1 of this season against the Kannapolis Intimidators.
THE KING CONTINUES: Jared James picked up the only hit of the night for the road team with a two-out single in the first inning against Andro Cutura...The Sacramento native extended his hitting streak to six games, in which the left-handed batter is hitting .391 (9-for-23).
BUILDING THE PIPELINE: MLB Pipeline revealed its updated prospect rankings, and nine Atlanta Braves farmhands cracked the top-100...Of the nine, seven either currenlty played, or have previously played for the Fire Frogs: Kyle Wright (25), Ian Anderson (40), Austin Riley (44), Cristian Pache (58), Luiz Gohara (63), Touki Toussaint (78), and Drew Waters (100).
