
Dayton Walks-Off Winners in Half Finale

Lake County Captains News Release
(Dayton, OH)- Jon Matthews singled up the middle to score Daniel Pigott in the bottom of the eleventh inning and the Dragons beat the Captains 3-2. Matthew's single was the first hit for Dayton since the bottom of the sixth inning. The Dragons salvaged the series with the win. This was the third time a team has had a walk-off win against the Captains this season.
Clint Frazier smashed his fourth homerun of the season, a solo shot, in the top of the third inning and Lake County took the early 1-0 lead. Frazier has hit three of his four homers on the road this season.
Dayton took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Brandon Dailey hit a solo homer, his third of the season to tie the score at 1-1. With two outs and a runner at third base, Jeff Gelalich singled to right field and the score was 2-1 Dayton. Lake County tied the game by scoring on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth inning. The score was 2-2.
RHP Mitch Brown (0-6) took the ball for the Captains and did not factor in the decision. Brown pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits, he walked two and fanned five. Trevor Frank took over in the seventh inning, and pitched a scoreless inning. Ben Heller entered in the eighth inning and walked two hitters and hit one batter over two scoreless innings of relief. Wander Beras (2-2) entered in the tenth inning and pitched two innings and was saddled with the loss.
RHP Layne Somsen (1-1) started for Dayton and didn't get a decision. Somsen pitched four innings and allowed one earned run on four hits. Somsen struck out five. Ryan Kemp pitched three innings of relief and allowed one earned run on two hits, he also walked one. Alenjandro Chacin entered in the eighth inning for Dayton. Chacin pitched three innings of scoreless baseball. LHP Nolan Becker (1-0) earned the win after a scoreless inning of relief.
The Midwest League All-Star Break is Monday June 16th through Wednesday June 18th. The Captains will return to Classic Park on Thursday June 19th at 7:00 PM for a four game series verses the South Bend Silver Hawks.
