Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs News Release
ROANOKE, Va. - Tanner Creel's impressive 26-save performance was not enough on Friday night at Berglund Center as the Rail Yard Dawgs were shut out by the Macon Mayhem, 3-0. Macon's win was its ninth in a row.
Creel stole the show early and stood on his head throughout the first period. Late in the frame some impressive Macon passing left an uncovered skate at the back door but Creel went full splits to stop a shot with his left pad and keep the game tied. The Mayhem out-shot the Dawgs, 12-4 in the first but the game remained tied through the opening 20 minutes.
Macon took the lead early in the second. Just as a power play expired, John Siemer took a shot that was blocked. He gathered his own rebound though and fired it through bodies and top shelf past Creel to put the Mayhem on the board.
They added to that lead in the third, first when Caleb Cameron banged home a one-timer on the power play in the opening minute. Cameron would add another goal later in the period to push the advantage to 3-0.
Roanoke was outshot 29-26 in the game and had 17 of its shots in the second period. Creel stopped 26 of the 29 he faced and the Dawgs were shut out for the first time since January.
Cameron scored twice, Jimmy Soper had two assists and Jordan Ruby made 26 saves on 26 shots.
The Rail Yard Dawgs fell to 3-4-0 with the loss while Macon won it's ninth consecutive game and improved to 9-0-1. Roanoke will travel to Fayetteville on Saturday to take on the Marksmen. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 P.M at the Crown Coliseum. The pregame show on the Haley Toyota Rail Yard Dawgs Hockey Network begins at 5:45 P.M.
