Albany Devils News Release

LOWELL, Mass. - Patrick Davis scored twice in a span of 44 seconds to put the Lowell Devils ahead for good in a 5-2 win over the Springfield Falcons on Sunday at the Tsongas Arena. Goalie Mike McKenna made 19 saves for his 12th win of the season.

With the score tied 2-2 late in the second period, Davis' pair of markers would give Lowell a two-goal cushion heading into the intermission. After Devan Dubnyk stopped Stephen Gionta's breakaway chance, Davis went diving to the ice to sweep in the rebound at 16:54 of frame. The Devils lit the lamp again with 2:10 until the break when Nathan Perkovich's shot from the far circle caromed off a skate to Davis on the near side for his 10th goal of the year.

Tyler Eckford opened the scoring at 6:12 of the first, hopping into the slot to gather a loose puck and fire it inside the near post.

Springfield evened the score ten minutes later on the power play as Liam Reddox redirected Cody Wild's slapshot over McKenna.

Using a 5-on-4 advantage, Lowell would take the lead once again in the middle stanza when Matt Taormina rifled a point shot that popped high off of Perkovich's stick and over the shoulder of an unsuspecting Dubnyk.

The Falcons evened things up one more time after Ryan MacMurchy picked off a pass at the Devils' blueline and fed Colin MacDonald for a wrist shot from the bottom of the far circle that found the top of net.

Nick Palmieri completed the scoring with 2:03 remaining with his team-leading 12th goal of the year.

The Lowell Devils will host the Hartford Wolf Pack on Wednesday, January 6 at 7:00PM at the home of their NHL affiliate New Jersey Devils, the Prudential Center.
