Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem Dash evened up their series with the Greenville Drive at a game apiece, with a 9-4 win.

The Dash opened this game up in a hurry. In the top of the first, Luis Mieses ripped one through the infield for an RBI single, driving in Moises Castillo. Adam Hackenberg kept the inning alive with an RBI of his own, to score Bryan Ramos.

Winston-Salem picked up another two runs in the second inning.

Jason Matthews doubled to plate Duke Ellis, and Bryan Ramos smoked a single to bring Matthews all the way back around to score.

Sean Burke held Greenville scoreless through four innings, but ran into trouble in the fifth. He allowed a solo home run to Nicholas Northcutt, and also balked in an additional run before exiting.

Both bullpens hit a groove, with neither side scoring until the eighth inning, when the Dash extended on a 4-2 lead. Duke Ellis doubled into left to plate Shawn Goosenberg, and Ellis came in to score on a Jason Matthews bloop single.

Greenville got a couple of runs back in the bottom of the inning.

Cedanne Rafaela launched a two-run blast, to cut Winston-Salem's lead to 6-4.

The Dash were able to add a few insurance runs in the top of the ninth.

Harvin Mendoza lined a double to right field, with Luis Mieses coming around to score. Later, Jason Matthews continued his strong night with a two-run single. Mendoza and Duke Ellis scored to make it 9-4, and that would hold as the final.

Fraser Ellard was credited with the win, and Brian van Belle took the loss.
