
Dash Send Tourists Packing in 4-3 Series Opener

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Dash defeated the Asheville Tourists 4-3 on Tuesday night in the first game of a six-game series from McCormick Field.
Alex Destino, who last week clobbered three homers in one game against Greensboro, opened up the scoring for the Dash with another longball. The two-run shot marked the 17th on the year for Destino, who gave the Dash an early 2-0 lead.
Zach Daniels answered in the fourth with his first home run of the year to put Asheville on the board 2-1.
Winston-Salem tallied a couple more in the sixth to move ahead 4-1. Jagger Rusconi was beaned by a pitch leading off and took third on a two-bagger from Yoelqui Cespedes. After a pitching change, Alex Destino sacrificed to left to drive in Rusconi. Cespedes followed as Luis Curbelo reached on a fielding error by first baseman Luke Berryhill.
Asheville matched with a two-spot of their own in the home sixth to move the score to 4-3. Edgar Navarro allowed two walks and a single to load the bases and set the scene for Wilyer Abreu to single to left, scoring Luke Berryhill and C.J. Stubbs.
The Dash bullpen held Asheville scoreless for the remaining innings and Winston-Salem took a 4-3 victory. Starter Davis Martin (3-5) took a win through five innings while only allowing one run on five hits and striking out five batters. Brian Glowicki collected his fifth save on the season. Asheville starter Alfredi Jimenez (0-1) took the loss for the Tourists.
The two teams square off again on Wednesday night at McCormick Field. Johan Dominguez will man the rubber for the Dash. The lefthander Brayan de Paula will take the hill for Asheville. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
