GREENSBORO, NC - The Winston-Salem Dash fell 12-2 to the Greensboro Grasshoppers Saturday night in game five of a six-game road set at First National Bank Field.

Like Thursday night's game, the Dash struck first in game five. Terrell Tatum, Andy Atwood and DJ Gladney led off with a single apiece, and Tatum stole home to give Winston-Salem a 1-0 lead and earn his 31st swiped bag of the season.

Michael Turner grounded out to drive in Atwood in the following at-bat, and just like that the Dash had a 2-0 advantage. Josimar Cousin took the mound for his first start with Winston-Salem after being called up from the Arizona Complex League.

Cousin walked a pair of batters in the bottom of the first, and with one out, Greensboro's Jase Bowen knocked an RBI single to pull the Grasshoppers within 1. Cousin maintained Winston-Salem's lead through the second after working a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts.

In the bottom of the third, though, the Grasshoppers found the tying run. Mike Jarvis ripped a one-out double to left field and was ultimately driven in by Will Matthiessen to knot up the score at 2. Cousin's night would end shortly thereafter as Dylan Burns came out of the bullpen for the fourth.

Cousin's final line included three innings, two hits, 2 runs, two walks and three strikeouts. Burns struggled upon his entrance, and with no outs and two runners on, Maikol Escotto tripled to plate 2 runs and give Greensboro a 4-2 lead.

Brenden Dixon followed up with a 2-run homer to left field, extending the Grasshoppers' lead to 6-2 with no outs. Burns escaped the rest of the inning unscathed, and he labored through the fifth and sixth without giving up any runs.

Overall, Burns went three innings, surrendering four hits, 3 earned runs and striking out four. Everhett Hazelwood took the bottom of the seventh for the Dash, and the righty couldn't keep Greensboro at bay. He allowed a leadoff double, hit a batter and threw a wild pitch, giving the Grasshoppers runners on second and third with no outs.

He couldn't work out of the jam as Matthiessen sent a double to left center to score 1 run, and Shawn Ross later dropped an RBI single to right field. Then, with two outs, Escotto doubled to right field to drive in Ross and give Greensboro a 10-2 lead.

Kole Ramage came on to replace Hazelwood, and Greensboro was able to tack on another pair of runs, good for six in the frame. The Dash couldn't muster any magic in the eighth or ninth and fell 12-2 after going scoreless for the final eight innings.

Burns was charged with the loss, and Greensboro's Logan Hofmann picked up the win after tossing two scoreless innings in relief. The Dash are back in action against the Grasshoppers Sunday afternoon for the series finale. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. from First National Bank Field.
