Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Gabriel Rincones Jr.'s walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth gave the BlueClaws a 2-0 start to the second half and a 4-3 win over Rome on Saturday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.
Rincones Jr. brought in Hao-Yu Lee with his single after Lee had singled and stole second base. Jason Ruffcorn (3-1), who threw a scoreless ninth inning, earned his third win of the year.
Jersey Shore (2-0/37-30) is 2-0 to start the second half and they have won six of their last seven games overall.
The BlueClaws opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth on a solo homer by Marcus Lee Sang, his fifth home run of the season.
The lead, however, was short-lived as Rome scored twice in the top of the fifth inning. Brandon Parker's single to left field was misplayed allowing Adam Zebrowski, who led off the inning with a double, to score. Eliezel Stevens then reached on an error by first baseman Rixon Wingrove on which Parker came home to give the Braves a 2-1 lead.
The BlueClaws tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Hao-Yu Lee. Rome, however, then re-took the lead in the seventh on a throwing error by Lee, allowing Geraldo Quintero to score from first base.
Jersey Shore starter Jordan Fowler gave up two runs, one earned, in five innings of work. Sam Jacobsak, Matt Russell, and Ruffcorn each threw scoreless innings in relief. Lee and Lee Sang each had two hits in the win.
The teams finish their series on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 pm.
