Charlotte Knights News Release
(Fort Mill, SC) - Jordan Danks, who was hitting .299 with five home runs and 20 RBIs in 33 games for the Charlotte Knights this season, has been recalled to Chicago today, as announced by the White Sox. Danks will take the place of Dewayne Wise, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to May 30) with a strained right hamstring.
This is his second promotion to the Majors this season. Danks was also recalled to Chicago on April 17.
Danks is among the Knights all-time career leaders in a number of categories. On May 19, Danks walked into the Knights record books and moved into sole possession of first place on the team's All-Time career walks list - passing Joe Borchard's mark of 156. He now has 162 walks. On May 31, Danks moved into a tie for second place (Chris Clapinski) in runs scored with his 189th. He is second in hits (333), tied for first in triples (11), third in doubles (71), second in at-bats (1,253), third in games played (348), and fourth in RBIs (157).
Danks will join White Sox pitcher John Danks - his older brother. This marks the first time the two brothers are on the active roster at the same time.
Gates open at 1:00 p.m. today for all fans and dogs, as the team's annual Bark in the Ballpark celebration will take place. Fans and canines of all ages can enjoy a 2:15 p.m. game. Dogs are free to enter the ballpark on Sunday, but their owners will need a ticket. Bark in the Ballpark is presented by Nutramax Laboratories and Spay Neuter Clinic of the Carolinas.
Sundays are Family Days at the ballpark, thanks to BB&T. All kids can "Run the Bases" after the game, thanks to Moe's Southwest Grill. Sunday's game also features Fitness Day at the ballpark and the first 1,000 fans 12 and under will receive headphones, thanks to Carolinas HealthCare System.
Tickets for today's games are on sale now and can be purchased in person at Knights Stadium, by phone at 704-357-8071 ext. 2106, or online at http://www.charlotteknights.com.
