
Chiefs Fall in Game Three to Red Sox

The Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, lost to Pawtucket, 10-3,on Sunday. Pawtucket had two four-run innings and belted 14 hits in the win.
For the third time in as many games this series, Syracuse (23-33) got on the board in the first. Eury Perez led off with his third home run of the season to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.
Syracuse added to its lead in the fourth. After two strikeouts to lead off the frame, Zach Walters belted a home run over the right field wall and the Chiefs led 2-0. Walters now leads the team in homers with 11.
Pawtucket (35-22), however, rallied in bottom of the fourth. Drew Sutton doubled to lead off the inning. With one out, Brandon Snyder singled to put runners on the corners. Syracuse starter Matt Torra walked Mitch Maier to load the bases for Justin Henry. He doubled to left to score two runs and tie the game. Jonathan Diaz then hit a sacrifice fly to score Maier from third. The next batter, Brock Holt, singled to right to score Henry and the Red Sox took a 4-2 lead.
Pawtucket extended its lead in the seventh. Sutton doubled and Ryan Lavarnway walked to lead off the inning. Brandon Snyder then doubled to left field to score Sutton. The next batter, Maier, homered over the right-field wall and the Paw Sox took an 8-2 lead.
Syracuse got a run back in the eighth. Anthony Rendon led off and was hit by a pitch. Will Rhymes followed with a single that put runners on the corners with nobody out. The next batter, Corey Brown, hit a single to left field to score Rendon and cut the deficit to 8-3.
Pawtucket, though, got the run right back and then some. In the bottom of the inning, Snyder came up with a runner on first and one out. He homered over the center-field wall and the Red Sox led 10-3.
Syracuse and Pawtucket wrap up their four-game series on Monday at 7:05. Left-hander Danny Rosenbaum takes the mound for the Chiefs while the Red Sox send right-hander Alfredo Aceves.
