Louisville Bats News Release
TOLEDO, Oh. - The Toledo Mud Hens (20-38) walked off for the second time in three days against the Louisville Bats (27-30) in a 4-3 win that lasted ten innings. The Hens will look to sweep the four-game series when the two teams meet tomorrow night.
After Louisville got out to an early three-run lead, Toledo was able to score three unanswered runs to send the game to extras, where Nick Castellanos was the hero with a walk-off single. The top prospect in the Detroit Tigers system, Castellanos went 3-5 with a home run and accounted for three of the Mud Hens' four RBIs.
The Bats scored first in the third in an inning that saw three Mud Hens errors. Emmanuel Burriss crossed the plate to give Louisville a 1-0 lead on a play with a fielding error after he had reached second and third on Toledo errors. Billy Hamilton was credited with the RBI on the play.
In the fourth, Neftali Soto went deep for his fifth homer of the season that scored Felix Perez and extended the Louisville lead to 3-0.
The Mud Hens' bats woke up in the bottom half of the fourth to close the gap. Castellanos put Toledo on the board with a two-run blast to right-center field that cut the Bats' lead to 3-2.
Mud Hens starter Pat Misch (ND, 1-3) left the game in the sixth after completing 5.1 innings of work. He allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out six.
Toledo scored their third unanswered run of the game in the sixth to knot the score at 3-3 when Ben Guez doubled to score Castellanos.
Tony Cingrani (ND, 3-0) was done for Louisville after seven full innings in which he allowed three earned runs on six hits and struck out nine. The three earned runs were the most that he has allowed in six starts this season.
Bruce Rondon (W, 1-1) struck out the Louisville side in the tenth inning to get the Mud Hens to the bottom half where a timely two-out double from Brandon Douglas set up Castellano's walk-off single.
Louisville will finish up their road trip in Toledo tomorrow night at Fifth Third Field with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Armando Galarraga (3-3, 2.94) will go for the Bats against Mud Hens LHP Jose Alvarez (5-3, 2.30).
