Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

With two out in the seventh inning, Andrew Daniel broke a 2-2 tie with his seventh home run of the season, helping to send the Orem Owlz to a 3-2 win over the Grand Junction Rockies Wednesday night at Brent Brown Ballpark.

Daniel's homer came off Gavin Glanz who replaced Sam Howard after the Rockies lefty held the Owlz to a pair of runs in six innings of work.

Grand Junction had the tying run at second base with nobody out in the eighth inning, but Tyler Carpenter stranded Luis Jean at second base, then after Hamlet Marte worked a walk with one out in the ninth, Randy Reyes ended the game by grounding into a double play.

Orem struck first in the third inning. With one out, Raul Linares doubled home Juan Moreno, and he scored when the next batter, Andrew Daniel singled, but the Rockies got on the board in the fourth when Yonathan Daza followed Forrest Wall's triple with a ground out to cut the Orem lead in half.

With the help of an error, the Rockies were able to tie the game in the fifth, but didn't score again, as they were held to just four hits.

Luis Jean was the only Rockie with two hits, Wall and Daza accounted for the other two.

Daniel had two hits for Orem while Caleb Adams had three.

The loss drops the Rockies to 42-33 on the season, heading into Thursday night's season finale. A win would match the franchise record for wins in a season, and would give them the best record in the Pioneer League.
